Clay Bricks, Concrete Blocks & Fly Ash Bricks

Clay brick is made from mud and is made in bhatti (Big oven). common size (width) of Red clay bricks are – 4 inch and 6 inch.

Solid blocks are made from pressure steam curing. They are almost like a block of concrete. Very heavy in weight. Not recommend for internal walls.

C4X , Fly Ash Bricks are made from silica. They are very light in weight. Easily available in market in different sizes: 2, 4 and 6 inch thick

When contractor tells you Cost of New Wall, it includes cost of labour, bricks, sand, cement.

Price Range

  • Many believe Clay bricks are best for long term result of plaster and water curing.
  • Fly Ash bricks are expensive of all.
  • Fly Ash bricks are light in weight which makes them good choice for building new wall in old building without putting too much weight on slab.
  • Concrete blocks are very heavy. They are preferred for compound walls & industrial use.

  • Identify for which area the brick work is required.
  • There are basically 3 types of bricks- Clay brick, Concrete brink & C4X (fly ash). Depending on where the brick work needs to be done, each is used.
  • Prefer purchasing any type of brick from brick kiln that will give you best quality brick & at a good rate.
  • The brick shape must be proper and edges must be sharp. It shall not be cracked or chipped.
  • The color of the brick shall be uniform.
  • Scratch a brick with fingernail or similar object. If any impression is seen on the brick, than the brick is not hard/strong enough for use.
  • A good quality brick will not easily scatter into small pieces if thrown from a height.
  • The weight difference of the dry brick & moistened brick shall not be more than 15%.
