Bathroom water proofing is done on bathroom floor and side walls usually upto 6” from floor. To waterproof your bathroom, firstly the room needs to be completely dry. Then first coat of primer is applied. This helps the waterproofing solution/film bond well to floors and wall. Once the primer coat is completely dry, a sealant is applied mainly to internal joints floor to wall joints. The sealant is applied in a similar way as paint. The first coat is applied horizontally i.e. left to right. The second coat is applied vertically so that the solvent can reach out for small holes that could have been missed in first coat. Once the sealant coat is dry, waterproofing solution is applied to corners, upturns, bathroom drain outlet and other necessary joints. The solvent are always applied to walls first and then to the floors. Waterproofing solution is applied in 2 coats. Once the second coat is dried, you’re done with waterproofing. The tiles are then laid.
