Marble and granite are two different types of rock: one is metamorphic, deriving from the transformation of sedimentary rocks, the other is igneous and consists primarily of quartz, orthoclase and biotitic.

Due to its intrinsic characteristics, Granite is harder and keeps its polish for longer, even when attacked with acidic substances. Granite is therefore more durable and strong and less prone to scratches and staining then marble. And so granite of mostly used for kitchen platforms and marbles are used for flooring and other purposes.
