Kitchen is one project in itself. Biggest challenge that needs to be solved effectively is that of spacing. Correct placement and planning makes even small kitchen very convenient place to do day to day work.
In most of the cities and towns of India, Vastu Shatra is given heavy importance while planning Interior of Kitchen. 9 out of 10 times kitchen plan is discussed with female member in the house. Lady of the house has stronger say in how kitchen gets designed. Things like dish self, oil pull out, ghar ganti (Mill) etc. Sink gets considered in planning.
Nowadays in modern kitchen, parallel kitchen, is in trend. Idea is, to have platform by two opposite walls. Until long long time we made our kitchen in L shape. However in L shaped kitchen, corner always gets under-utilised. Instead parallel kitchen allows you work with more freedom and space gets utilised effectively.

1) Best approach is to give business to Contractor or Interior Designer recommended by friend and family.
2) If you do not have reference talk to to 2 – 3 Contractors, tell them your budget and let them come back with details of Estimate and building Material that they will use.
3) If you just want to do wardrobe or flooring or Wall Painting or just bathroom repair – then you don need to go for a designer you can simply buy the material which you like or ask Contractor to buy one for you.

It depends a lot on requirement and situation of Home. For example, a Home Owner might decide to get POP ( Plaster of Paris) instead of normal Ceiling. How did you start your career as Interior Designer ?
I did a course in Interior Designer at Mumbai Academy in Dadar, Mumbai. After this I started working Independently, got some opportunity in Malad, Mumbai area. These were residential projects 1 BHK 2 BHK (Bedroom Hall Kitchen). Later started working for a company named Bhadrecha Construction. For this company most of the work I have done is in to Commercial Projects. In addition I do take freelance/contracts of my own, these are usually Residential projects and smaller offices.

Tell me about your Career in Construction Industry?
It’s been Challenging ride so far. I did B.E in Civil Engineering from Vartak college of Engineering, Vasai Mumbai. In year 2000 I started working for a company named Bhumi Developers as a Senior Engineer. Presently I Own a business of my own with name Om Swastik Developers. We mostly deal in to Residential projects. I have seen lots of ups & down but fortunately so far it’s been going good and have done lot of creative work.
