Many get confused between laminates and veneers for furniture. Well the only common point is that both veneers and laminates are used to over lay wooden surfaces to beautify them.
i. Veneers are very thin slices of wood obtained for tree log whereas laminates are artificially manufactured sheets using paper and plastic resins.
ii. Since veneers are obtained from natural wood, it gives a very natural feel to wood. On the other hand there are laminates available that look quite similar to veneer though they are not same as veneer.
iii. Veneers are usually costlier than laminates, especially the good quality ones.
iv. Laminates are easier to maintain since they are scratch proof, water proof and easier to maintain in comparison to veneer.
