Carpet area is the area of the apartment that is actually use-able. It is the area enclosed within the walls where you can essentially lay carpet. Carpet area does not include the inner wall (i.e. wall between 2 rooms) and pouter wall thickness.

Built up area includes carpet area plus the thickness of walls and the balcony (if any). Built up area is usually 10% more than carpet area.

And super built-up includes built up area plus proportionate common areas like lobby, lift, shafts, stairs, etc. As a rule of thumb super built-up area is calculated somewhat 15% to 50% more of carpet area.
