If your home got bathroom fittings about 15 years back, chances are they were of olden style. In modern India, Single Lever Diverter- the modern design faucet is preferred by most home-owners. Be it any room- bathrooms, kitchen or washbasins, etc. single lever diverter is the new trend.

Single Lever diverter is also called as ceramic, cartridge or rotary ball by different dealers. (However technically Ceramic, cartridge & ball are types of Faucet mechanism. Full turn commonly referred to old style faucets/taps that use Washers inside.) Not that old fashion full turn faucet/tap is not available. There are few home-owners who still prefer full turn faucet.

Both these faucets- Single lever diverter and full turn taps are easily available in market. Full turn faucets are cheaper than latest single lever diverter faucet style. Say a full turn faucet (the old fashion tap) costs around Rs.1200 per piece max. whereas Single lever diverter costs around Rs. 1600 per piece which is the starting range.

The cost for single lever diverter goes on to Rs. 1800 to Rs 2,000 per piece depending on style a home owner wants. But single lever diverter faucet is more durable, save space as it get concealed in walls unlike full turn faucet/taps. Also the washer ( mistakenly called as vicar), a circular rubber band, is always a troublesome issue in full turn faucet as it easily get worn out.

While in Single lever diverter / half turn faucet the washer is replaced with a ceramic material which is more durable and is not easily worn out.

Not only home –owners, but all plumbers prefer Single Lever Diverters/ half turn faucets.
