We had been to a marble supplier to have an updated Marble Price list to help our customers. This is what he shared with us-

You must have heard “Demand = Supply”. This is what a marble supplier had to say “Demand = Supply = Price”. There no format or pricing pattern followed for marbles. Marbles that are easily available are low in cost or inexpensive and that which are rarely available or manufactured are expensive.  Prices of a given quality/brand of marble also will vary for dealer to dealer. Say for e.g.  A dealer will quote Rs. 700/- per sq.ft. for A grade Makrana marble price while the other quotes Rs 750/- per sq.ft. for the same quality marble.

Similarly prices for given quality marble varies by 5%-8% from dealer to dealer.

Q – Why is this 5%-8% difference in pricing of the same marble?

A – This 5%-8% difference is observed because every dealer will want to have different profits.  Also the profit margin differs from place to place.

Secondly the supplier ( if  is the same for the dealers) could have sold the same quality marble at different rates to each of them depending on their quotations and agreements made beforehand.

Q – Can it be beneficial for a Home-owner to buy marbles directly from mines or its best to buy from a dealer/vendor?

A – Buying marbles directly from the mines if always good, because a home -owner get better rates. But it only is helpful if a home-owner has knowledge of marbles or have a person from similar field with him while buying whether from mines or vendors directly. But buying from vendor is a good option as if the material sent is of inferior quality then finalised, then it can returned or exchanged or refunded.
There is no such policy if marble is bought from mines. So one draw-back from buying from mines is that home-owner shall be ready to be bear the marble quality received from mines irrespective of what was finalised.
