Our Reply –
“Because of its availability and easy installation, wallpapers have become quite popular. With your obsession, wallpapers will prove to be the best option as it will not only save your time, but also add style and design to your home. We have a variety of wallpapers to choose from, say it plain wallpapers, colored wallpapers, textured ones to 3-dimensional ones. Wallpapers are easily installed and changeable. Now-a-days you get washable wallpapers, where you can use a get cloth and wipe if any stain or mark on it. If maintained and cleaned regularly, wallpapers can stay for as good as 8-10 years. You can change wallpapers every 4-5 years if you want a new look to you home/room.”
Many Home Owners have leakage issue & it has created stains on the wall. For such Home owner is Wall Paper an option at all ??? And what about outside wall , is it possible to do wall paper on exterior ?
Well, Wallpapers are absolute NO NO on the walls where there’s a leakage problem. Because of leakage problem the wallpaper will start peeling and it may turn pale. So before installing, check with leakage problems and if any, they need to be repaired first. I would suggest you to think of other option then wallpaper for outside wall, because natural resources like sun light, rainfall, etc. will effect wallpaper’s life. It will either fade sooner than its life or may wear out easily.
I bought new 2 BHK flat. My master bedroom having a leakage problem. Due to this wall putty came outside. Is there any option of waterproof wallpaper?
Vijay
Vijay sir, water leakage problem should be fixed, else it will spoil further plaster and paint in the house. No Paint / Putty / Wallpaper can hold on to leakages. Water finds its way. Even if you put wall tiling, water will find area that is no tiled and it will create problem.
Fix source of the problem first instead of spending money on any other areas.
Hi! We bought a new house which shares its outer walls on both sides with neighboring houses. The left side wall has dampness, most probably coming from some leakage problem in the neighnour’s house. In case they do not allow us to fix it from their side of the wall, what other alternatives to we have, to waterproof our wall?
Regards
Shivani
Hello Shivani ji, unfortunately there are no shortcuts when it comes to water leakages. You have to fix root cause. There are ways in which you can block dampness ( say you do wall tiling inside your room). But water is very tricky, it will find some alternate way to enter inside some other wall. So very important that you solve root cause of the problem.
I have a flate there is seapage in bathroom wall and also room wall effected.i could not remove seapage and to cover the wall by wall paper , is it possible and better ?

Hi, I want to decorate my home with wall paper. My house is newly made with out paint and putty. Please guide me what kind of wall required for wall paper.
Let wallpaper installer have a look at the wall and decide if there are any preparation steps required. For wallpaper require smooth wall & layer of primer.
Hi,,, i want to use wall paper in living room. but in two side walls, in particular area only, paints comes off, like salt on walls, no water leakage. what should i do, paint or i can use wall paper? and which wall paper. also what would be its life?
if paint comes out, even wall paper will someday. Unless you fix problem neither paint nor wallpaper will stay. Other Permanenet option is Wall Tiling
Hello i have put wallpaper in my workspace and all walls where wallpaper is put lower level area have changed color and when i touch it is moisture ridden is color patches on wallpaper is beacuse of damp or faulty wall paper as it has happened only at lower levels of all walls
If wall has water seapage issue, no wall paper will hold on the wall. You have to fix the source of problem.
Hello!!
My house is made up on agriculture land.since its agriculture land there is no cure of leakage walls……some of my walls are having leakage patches..
I am planning for redecorating my home with wallpapers or with textured paints.
Please suggest what should i opt for.
until wall leakages are fixed, paint or wall paper will not last. Wall Tiling will be more appropriate. But if leakage is extreme eventually there is danger of tiles coming out.

leakage problems are very tricky. You might think it comes from one part of building, but travels from anywhere. Source of problem could be anywhere that no one would think of.
Hi,
I hv lustre painted the walls in my hall . The paint on the lower side bubbles and comes out within an year or two. The plumber says it can b leakage which cannot be traced. So what can we do.. I hv repainted my walls twice. It looks shabby when the paint comes out. Please guide.
There are various reasons for such situation. Lot of home owners end up doing tiling work from bottom till certain height of the wall. One of the reason for such bubble occurrence is chemical composition of material used in walls ( at builder level) , many contractors say “deewar main salt hain”. If this wall can be made in to highlighter, use dado tiles on whole wall. Another great option for highlighting is dana ( granular) texture paint on this wall ( thick layer). this will add decor & will solve problem.
